We begin this section with the appointment of Patricia Nikolopoulos by Gerald Metals as CFO and as member of its board of directors. She makes the move from the company’s North American unit to replace outgoing financial officer Vittorio Conti. It coincides with the departure of Markus Hazell from Gerald Metals’ base-metals trading team who moves to be an analyst for Hartree Partners in London.
Sipro Stahl Schweiz appoints a Chief International Officer. He is Raoul Leuba, until now the Director of the international steel trading division of Nucor Steel Mills Group. Raoul was a Nucor divisional Deputy MD for eight years until 2009. Briefly head of the steel trading desk for Klesch, he was additionally at one time a managing partner at steel/ferrous materials trading services outfit Synergia.
Simon Dent becomes Global Head-Commercial for multi-metals group Nyrstar, having moved across from majority owner Trafigura where he’d been a trader in lead and zinc with additional global responsibility for acids and by-products from the group’s smelting activities. For two years to 2018 Simon was Nyrstar’s sales manager in Australia and New Zealand.
EP Resources confirms Alex Newman for VP Commodity Trader after his arrival from heading dry bulk commodities in the Asia-Pacific region for ICAP. Alex had set up a coal brokering desk for the brokerage before coal-market spells for Noble Europe and Arch Coal Sales.
Asher Lejdstrom switches from Zug to Geneva, having exchanged his former role of Head-Copper Metal Trading at Bluequest Resources to become Senior Metals Trader for Petroforce T&S. In fact, it brings him back to Geneva: he was located there until 2015 when trading lead, zinc and tin at Trafigura.
The World Platinum Investment Council in London has selected David Wilson to be Manager – Investment Research. David’s background suits the role --- he has been a senior economist for Norilsk Nickel and director of metal research while with SocGen and Citigroup before spending the past two years as Freepoint’s head of metals and trading strategy.
As new CEO of specialty-metals house Fortis Metals, Sebastian Voigt advances from being head of sales. He joined the Hong Kong group in 2019 from Hunan Jinwang Bismuth, for which he was its Europe-based global sales director, and he’s also been CEO of Jinwang Europe.
Marco Levi can add Madrid to his list of workplaces with his confirmation as CEO of Ferroglobe. In recent years he’s had director-level connections to Schweitzer-Mauduit of Georgia, Glassolite of Oslo, Tesca and Bardot of France, Thermission and Lomasael of Switzerland and Chromatic 3D Materials of Minneapolis.
Now to St. Louis for news that Metal Exchange Corporation’s new Exec VP-Trading for non-ferrous metals is Vijay Natarajan. He is its former director of business development and joined MEC in 2007.
Mauricio Ortiz Jara, the new VP-Finance at copper miner Antofagasta Minerals in Chile, comes from being GM with Chilean transport group FCAB/Antofagasta Railway although he was previously the miner’s business development manager. That followed three years as manager of finance and administration for mining group Codelco and 14 months in Rio Tinto’s development team.
