We begin in Zug, with Ezpada naming Sarunas Cebelis its Senior Agricultural Trader in prop trading. After graduation his first stop came at Agrorodeo in Vilnius to trade in grain and oilseeds, but from there it was on to Switzerland and ADM in successive roles of Trading Manager for European grains and Senior Trader for global wheat. Since 2016 he’s been at the COFCO desk for global wheat as Trading Manager.
ADM moves Cesar Marcon to Switzerland for his latest role at the group, that of Senior Trader for soybean oil. Until now Cesar has been involved with the São Paulo side of ADM, progressing over the past 11 years from corporate trainee to trader, business co-ordinator and merchandiser. His most recent position was as Commercial Manager of soybean oil trading for South America.
Over at Olam in Geneva, Tomas Andrieu has joined as Global Corn Trader after a year being Senior Portfolio Manager for Hartree Partners. Tomas began his ags trading career at Noble Argentina (now COFCO), staying in Buenos Aires in 2012 to become Commercial Director of the CHS Argentinian team. Over the next seven years that brought him within CHS to Geneva (corn product line manager) and Minnesota (senior merchandiser).
Chris Nikkel is now a Prop Trader with Western Milling, working at the New York City office of the Californian company. A 16-year stay at Bunge took Chris to Director of Oilseed Risk Trading and Senior Director-Global Risk Trading for the agribusiness unit.
Talking of Bunge, Enzo Merluzzi is now its Director of Economic Analysis-Global Grains. Geneva-based Enzo arrives from being an ags analyst for Gunvor, a strategist for grains and oilseeds for Cumulus and - latterly - part of the Avere Commodities team for research and risk management in global grains. There’s also a new arrival at Bunge Loders Croklaan, the group’s edible-oils business with headquarters in The Netherlands. Jochem Dettmers becomes its Global Director-Commercial & Business Development for speciality ingredients. Jochen was Sales Director in the EMEA region for BungeMaxx branded lecithin made from soybean, rapeseed or sunflower oilseeds.
In Minneapolis, Ceres Global Ag Corp appoints Carlos Paz as VP/Commercial Director and John Haug as interim CFO.Ceres says Carlos now manages all commercial activities and teams related to its ags businesses, including the trading and merchandising of grains and oilseeds. He’s worked across North America, Latin America and Europe for companies such as Continental Grain, Cargill and (most recently) Freepoint where he was VP/ags trader. Ceres separately announced the February 2020 departure of Finance Chief Kyle Egbert and his interim replacement by John Haug until a new permanent officer is found. John joins from leading the finance/accounting function for Cargill’s businesses in energy, metals, transport and financial services.
BP in London brings in Andrew Robinson as Biodiesel Analyst, recruiting him from trading with Cargill in The Netherlands. Andrew had been moved by Cargill from the UK to Amsterdam in 2017.
And finally, for this month’s ags news, we see that the U.S. Soybean Export Council has selected Carlos Salinas to be its Senior Director for soybean meal feed markets. Known as Rodrigo, he’s been eight years with Bunge including five years as manager of the soybean and feedgrains export desk. Additionally, he has worked for both ADM and Continental Grain in domestic and international positions.
