Dear Commodity Pro,

Quietly proud that in Feb we are able to publish the 2nd edition of 2020. Kinda feels like a real news room. Bear in mind that this isn’t our day job… it’s still a relatively large undertaking that involves everyone in the firm. Talking of returning to your day job – we are just back from Eworld in Essen where we completed our annual bar tending duties with our Nordic friends Montel at the Happy Stand.

Having looked at the exciting world of data science in the last edition, in this issue we take a deep dive into the reward patterns for analysts/strategists in commodities. Often a topic of discussion with our clients so we ran a survey and asked our nearest and dearest to share their thoughts. In the following pages you’ll find a few samples of the results to give you a taster.

I am kicking off a piece of research into performance correlations between ultra racing and effective leadership

OK, a few comments on the running addiction. I have just published my race calendar for the year ahead, see below. I will aim to share perspectives, hacks and anecdotes on balancing an ambitious running and business schedule. Not always easy but in my world they are actually rather complimentary. To that end I am kicking off a piece of research into performance correlations between ultra racing and effective leadership. This study is supported by Thomas International, the experts in psychometric and aptitude assessments.

Your feedback during Eworld was great to receive, comments on our video production, this newsletter, the running stories - keep the feedback coming - it helps shape our content and is always appreciated by the team and myself.

Hope you have made a cracking start to the year.
