Here are the highlighted moves for the softs market over the past month. We begin with a look to Tereos, who recently helped eRcane (Réunion’s sugar research centre) to mark its 90 years of investigations into sugarcane disease resistance. Tereos has hired Marcello Moreira as Director of Market Research. He was previously Trading Intelligence Lead at Alvean and before that 20+ years at Cargill, most recently as Sugar Analytics Lead. At FIE Paris in December, Tereos unveiled France’s first organic production of beet sugar.

ED&F Man promote Anthony Madi, from Senior Sugar Trader to Head of White Sugar Trading. Anthony moved to London on joining the group in 2013, having previously traded ethanol and fertilisers for companies in Switzerland.

News from Amsterdam that the Dutch arm of ETG has been joined by Koen Goos to fill a senior trader vacancy on the coffee desk. Koen was a senior merchant in vegetable oils at Cargill until 2012, then he had seven years with Sucden as a trader for its Nedcoffee operations.
