Our highlights of recent Gas and LNG moves begin in New York where RJ Hayes is now VP of the gas desk at New York energy service company East Coast Power & Gas. His gas-trader history has been with Twin Eagle Resource Management of Houston and then Citadel in Connecticut.  

While he was a Statoil power trader in Stavanger, Tom Aarthun completed an energy resources course at Norway’s NHH school of economics and progressed to trader and trading manager at the company’s LPG business. After that came nearly four years with Gazprom in London and Singapore, as trading manager for the LPG book. In his latest move he joins Centrica as Head of LPG Trading.

Vienna is the new address of Raphaël Godon, now appointed as Senior Gas Trader by OMV. Until the move he’d been in Aalborg with the Danish arm of Centrica Gas Trading and in Geneva with Altercorp. 

Roman Doroshenko starts a new position at Eesti Energy in Tallinn managing their natural gas portfolio. Roman worked with Gunvor Group for 10 years chartering LNG tankers, which was followed by a spell heading LNG operations and shipping for RWE S&T in London.

New Statkraft senior gas trader Richard Wilson joins the London desk from TrailStone. Over the past 15 years Richard has also traded gas for EDF, Statoil and RWE.

Promotion to Long Term Gas Negotiation Manager is announced for Stephanie Holubowsky at Eni. At the Italian group since 2005, Stephanie has spent the last four years managing their international business development, after handling gas supply negotiations in Russia and Algeria.

ExxonMobil in London has recruited Avinash Mahapatra from Shell to take on the role of Senior Gas Analyst -Trading. While at Shell, Avinash was a supply chain manager in lubricants and a trading optimiser in aviation fuels, before becoming a European gas trading analyst in 2015.

Team leaders at MFT Energy in Aarhus describe themselves as a bunch of energy traders who started their own company to build a European hub for short-term power trading from partnerships with skilled-trader individuals. As of April 2019 the company employed 21 trading partners, but the headcount has increased recently with Michael Lauritzen becoming Partner/Head - Gas Trading & Operations. Michael headed trading and operations for gas while at Danske Commodities until the end of 2018. 

Six years after Mitsubishi relocated its equity LNG marketing and trading to Singapore as Diamond Gas International, the office has received Leonard Lim in a further extension of the employee base. Leonard - formerly a ConocoPhillips LNG trader and marketer - is made Manager of Origination & Portfolio Strategy. Other additions to the headcount are in London and Singapore. Former EDF Trading analyst Jaysul Parmar joins the London team as LNG Trader-Derivatives. Singapore-based Stanislav Miroshnichenko becomes LNG Chartering Manager, building on his ship charter and brokerage experience previously gained at Gazprom and Affinity Shipping.

Avenir LNG greets new CEO

Milorad Doljanin steps up to CEO of Avenir LNG upon the retirement of Andrew Pickering, who had led the launch of the company in 2018. Acting as COO since joining in mid-2019, Milorad brings experience of working with PetroChina International in London (as Head of Origination and LNG), with Eon (as Head of LNG Origination), with Gazprom M&T (as the director responsible for development of its LNG business in the Asia-Pacific region) and with BP (involved in establishing its team for LNG trading operations and optimisation).

BP Singapore’s new LNG originator Ryosuke Tojima was previously LNG Commercial Manager for Gazprom’s Asia operation. Before that he’d spent over 15 years trading naphtha for Sojitz out of Tokyo and London.

At Cheniere Energy's LNG marketing subsidiary, Oliver Sanderson enters as Lead Analyst from being Director-European Natural Gas Analysis for Refinitiv. He had been a Thomson Reuters lead analyst for European gas before Refinitiv was formed out of the group’s financial and risk arm in 2018.

Singapore LNG importer Pavilion Energy continues to recruit for its new Madrid office after acquiring the European LNG portfolio previously owned by Iberdrola. Latest entry is Ernesto Parrilla Pozzy, to head European trading. He has been Iberdrola’s Head of LNG/Gas Origination and Trading since 2014. 

Being named Associate Director - LNG by Macquarie means Rajiv Panicker remains in London where he has managed Centrica LNG activities for the past three years. Past roles include Vice President of LNG at Morgan Stanley and LNG Trader at GlencoreXstrata.

Diana Beverly joins Morgan Stanley meanwhile, becoming Head of Gas, LNG and Power Origination. Her resumé reveals both VP-Commodities and Director titles while at Citi and an energy sales Exec Director position for Goldman Sachs.  

And finally, Commercial Manager - LNG Shipping based in Singapore is a job Stefan Beukeveld has held at Anadarko Petroleum and now holds at Total. His responsibilities for Total also include managing the group’s Mozambique LNG project. Stefan worked for previous employer BHP for over 11 years in various roles and was responsible for the chartering/procurement of ocean freight for its shipped commodities.
