Commodity INFORM | October 2019 Contents

Dear Commodity Pro,

So, quite a cocktail to cover in this edition. We’ve launched our video series under the Inform Online banner and we’re loving the feedback thus far. If you haven’t seen them yet, they are short conversations with leaders in commodities – we cover topics around talent, people, performance and cultures. Oh, and yes there will be some running content down the line, too.

I recently returned from a week in Asia, which included a fly on the wall/phone video intro of not only a new office, but also a new colleague in Sharifah. And what a brilliant addition she is. Video below. 90 seconds. Go on. Also, we’re opening a new London office soon and are currently interviewing for a brand new team there. If you can see yourself staring in the next video we shoot from there, get in touch. And yes, then there is the ultra running. I did actually manage to stop off en route to Singapore to take part in a race in Vietnam. Bagged a few things there: 3rd place, a broken rib and an acquaintance in Mads from Norden (won the 70K and kindly agreed to a video interview a few days later in Singapore. Yes, you guessed it, we discuss correlations between trading and ultra running, obviously).

You’ll also see on each of the following sections that we are including a chance to take part in our latest survey around the way that analysts/strategists in the front office are rewarded. It’s a hot topic at the moment and one where we’d appreciate your input if you have a couple of minutes.. all in return for a summary of the results delivered to your inbox of course.

Back at HQ, our internal academy is at cruising speed – now in its third year. Our current duo is David and Cecilia who are both on a 12-month placement from University of Surrey. Both getting stuck into real projects. Every day.

Global Grain Geneva in November? Yup, we’ll be there. Actually more than that, I noticed the Botanical Gardens are really close to the conference venue. Voila, the pre-conference delegate Botanical 5K was born. Sound tempting? DM me or just add your name in comments by clicking on the image to the left...
